In this chapter, we learn that Mishima has run away from his boss, Hiroshitsuzaki, and that he is now living with his wife, Yumi, in a small seaside town in the northeast of Japan. We also learn that Hiroshi has gone to Canada to visit the northern lights and that his wife and Hiroshi went to the yellow knife in Canada to see the lights. In the meantime, Mishima's boss, Shuzaki, has kissed Mishima out of nowhere, and Mishima wonders if this is the result of jealousy or just a hallucination. She wonders if he is running away because he is tired of his job, or because he just wants to escape.
