"All's Well That Ends Well" is the title of this chapter, and it's the first time we get a sense of what's going on in the novel. We learn that Hirokazu and Miike are lying in bed, and that Miike has an erection, which means that she's in love with him. She tells him to rustle one of his sleeping pills, and they begin to talk about how much they love each other. Miike says that she wants to touch him, too, and he says that he's not sure if it would work or not, but that they've been touching each other for a long time, and now they're getting more and more excited about each other's sex lives. He says that if he were in danger, he would run away, but if he was leaving someone behind, he wouldn't have to worry about it, because he'd be free to do whatever he wants with them. He tells us that he hasn't given up on Miike, and even though she never gave in to him, she never stopped loving him. He's back in the room, and wonders if Miike is still in the bedroom. He asks if she is still there, and she says she is. He goes on to say that he wants to know everything about her, so that he can loosen his body and soften his heart.
