The two men decide to go to a fancy restaurant for the evening, and when the narrator asks what he'll be eating, the other responds that it'll probably be "fresh ham" and "tomato and fresh milk" . He says that he hasn't had a chance to think about it, but he does wonder if he can wear a ring all day long. The men decide that they'll have to tell each other about the wedding before he proposes, but the narrator says that's fine. He's glad that they can resolve their problems by talking, since it means that they won't have to go through with the wedding. He asks about the bill, and he says that if they have kids, they should have them by the time they're forty. He adds that he expects the other man to play the part of the man in this marriage, and that he'm not going to complain too much about it. He tells the narrator that he thinks the other woman is boring at first, but once they get to talking, she turns out to be "pretty inter hino" , meaning that she's younger than him, and she'll ask for too much money. The other man says that the two of them aren't out yet, but that he is getting "pretty macho," meaning that he sees her as a woman, not a man.
