The only thing kept him alive was the virtual universe, which he calls "the wonders of the universe." He tells his mother that he has important clients who trust him, but he doesn't know if they'll be able to work with him. She looks at him in silence, trying to gauge his sincerity of his words. He knows that his mother is in negotiations with a "technopriest training school," but he can't see a sign of an agreement. He wants to go back to his old school.
