About This Chapter
In this chapter, we meet Pandemonium's mother, who is still in prison, and her son, who has escaped from the prison and is now on his way back to the real world. Pandemona tells her son that he is strong, intelligent, and valiant, and that he must vanquish both pity and individualism in order to be an "executioner" like the others. He tells her that he has formed a cluster with the other prisoners, and they will now submit him to their next test. They don't have much money, but they're a strong team, and each of them thinks only of their own personal interest. They're going to kill all the prisoners for him, and he'll cry like never before. He'll never be able to escape, he says, because he's joined a criminal enterprise and he can't escape. All the executions are virtual, and all of them are created by people who are flesh and blood. He says that all of the executioners in the world are virtual because they act as "imlacable antibodies" that trace the "virus of the cosmic computer marketplace" . If he commits another crime, his heart is going to turn to ashes. He begs his master to send him back to his games world, because his mother was dying, and his brother, almagro, was usurping power and castrating his love for her. He whipped his brother instead of thanking his brother for his love, and Pandemonum says that he will never give in until he asks for forgiveness from his ungrateful brother.
