About This Chapter
It's day one, and the rich boy is exhausted. He's already made himself a fool of himself, and he's about to fall asleep. He wakes up to find that his suitcase is next to the one belonging to the rich guy's friend. The rich guy asks the rich kid how he knows his name. The boy says that he looks at the name tags on the luggage and that's how he knew his name, too. He says that if he were worried about knowing his name on his luggage, he'd look at the tags on his own luggage. He also says that his card is about to run out, so he won't be able to pay for his hotel room. He asks if he came to Germany alone. The guy says yes, but he doesn't want to be a stranger anymore. He used to be an office worker, but recently he quit his job. He tells the guy that he needs some time to "recharge." The rich kid says that it's a good idea to leave things behind when you're on vacation. He adds that he used to have an older brother who died in a car accident. Years ago, they used to go out together. He would still be with him now. The narrator says that road movies are a good excuse for people to blame themselves. He admits that he enjoyed road movies because it was so easy for him to admit that he was the one who caused the accident.
