About This Chapter
The young narrator is on his way to meet up with a woman he's just met up with before. He's worried that the woman is a man, and that she's rejected him because of his masculinity. The narrator tells the young woman that he has confessed his feelings to her twice before, but that he doesn't want to give up on her. The young woman thinks that the young narrator has been "blindsided" by his feelings for the woman, and she wonders if the young man is actually a man. She says that he seems to have the same "energy" as her, and wonders if he might be "a man" . She tells him that he needs to follow his own heart, not the opinions of others, because opinions are "living your life" , not "after all . . you are the one inconsequential. She goes on to say that desires and hobbies are "as abnormal" as other people's, and if you're like other people, you'll be even more "abnormal." The narrator thanks her for pointing out what he himself had been ignoring, and says that she has an "admirable mindset." He says that the high priestess "bor free will" plays an "important role" in a person's destiny
