About This Chapter
The next morning, the narrator tries to find out what the young man wants from his life. He wants to know how to invest, how to train himself, and how to get out of debt. The young man says that he doesn't want to be a burden to his family, and that he's happy to be off of work. The narrator says that the only thing he wants from life is to be happy. He's not interested in money, he wants to be free of debt, and he'd like to be able to do whatever he wants with his life without worrying about what others think of him. He asks the narrator to send him a secret message that he can listen to, and the narrator says he'll do it next week. He also says that his father has been nagging him about money all this time, but that he hasn't found out how to do anything about it. He wonders if it would matter if everyone found out about his secret now, since it's nothing like a rich boy's story. He says that it would be like being happy to get off work, and not worrying about money. He tells the narrator that he has already been wandering around the neighborhood, just because he doesn1t have the guts to face his father. He goes to the oki cafe, which is a cafe in his neighborhood, and asks the waitress to show him to a table. The waitress says that she already gave him his order, and she says that there was something troubling him when he came to the cafe, but she didn1t tell him what it was. She says that when she went back to get her order, she found out that he was talking to the man she had just met, and told him
