In this chapter, Dr. Daji and Dr. Yuyue come to meet Dr. Zhang. The two of them discuss the possibility of creating a "gathering formation" in order to "stimulate the power of bloodline" in the fox girls. They decide to hide the formation in the mountains of the jiali range so that the girls will not be able to detect the presence of Dr. Manette. The next day, the formation is set up. The fox girls are hidden behind a waterfall. The men introduce themselves as Senior Zhang and Junior Zhang, respectively. They tell each other that their names are First Hong, Second Hong, Third Hong, and finally, "Eighteenth Hong" . Dr. Duan tells the men that he will bring them the future, and set them free from the "haze of slavery" , and that they must do what he commands. He tells them to guard the formation, and they do so. He then tells them that he has removed the branches of the golden tree and has drawn the formation. After an hour, he says, the surrounding energy has been attracted and gathered, and the formation has been activated. He instructs the students not to enter the formation and not to destroy anything that is in it, but only to plant trees.
