When the scene opens, the narrator is shocked to find that the woman in question has just lurched to the ground and is running away. The narrator is horrified to find out that she is Hiroyuki's mistress. He is also shocked to learn that she has just run away with him, and that Hiroyuki has just given her a surprise present. Hiroyuki tells the narrator that he was planning to present her with a gift on her birthday, but that he has been unable to see her as much as he would like.
