The scene opens with the sadistic secretary, who is always making her come to see what's going on. He's always trying to get her to do something, but she can't, because she's working too hard. He tells her that he'll give her some praise if she does a good job, and she'll have to do it herself if she doesn't. He says that he can do it, too, because he's so good at it. He asks her to hold him while he does it. She says that she can, and he praises her for it. The scene ends with the secretary's letter of resignation.
