This chapter opens with a clatter, followed by a clatter. It's clear that Renatus has locked the door behind the library. Renatus tells us that he's been using his "reincarnation magic" to send him to the other side of the world. He's going to have to wait until the crystal starts to glow before they can go back to their other selves. He tells us they can use the window behind the shed as a place to look at their reflection in the mirror. He asks if the window has a mirror, and the answer is yes. He also asks if there's a mirror in the shed. The answer is no. The shed is closed, and Renatus told him to wait outside in front of the mirror once the crystal begins to glow. He says that he didn't need to stick to looking at the mirror all over the place. He just needed to look all over one thing. He doesn't want to wait for a mirror to work, he wants to look right at his reflection. He wants to be able to see what his reflection looks like. He wonders if the mirror will actually work, and if it's just a matter of time before they're able to return to their original selves again. Varuna says that she's worried that something might happen to him, but nothing worries her more than the thought that she might lose him. She kisses him, and he says that his ears are not going beast mode anymore. They're just regular bodies, and they've just met each other for the first time.
