Chapter 3 opens with Hiroyuki's departure from the hospital. He tells his wife that he's finally feeling better, and he hopes that she's been feeling better as well. He's not feeling well, though, and Hiroyuki tells him that he needs to rest. He also tells her that he doesn't know what's going on with zeroichi, and that he can't figure out how to get rid of him. She tells him to move him somewhere, and to have 24 hour bodyguards to protect him. He says that's too much for him, and it'll be hard for him to do anything about it. She asks him to read the whole thing to her, and she wonders if he'll just go back to his jail cell after the year's sentence is up.
