The next morning, Cai Ling wakes up to find that the inn is on fire. He tells his sister and brother-in-law that he has a bad dream about being kidnapped and that he is tired. He says that he and Cai Ling caught a night's sleep due to the noise of the mice, and that they will be back in the morning. Cai Ling and his sister go off to catch fish, while Cai Ling goes off to pick wild fruit.
