In this chapter, we learn that Snow White and the Three Dwarves live in the forest. Snow White is a dwarf, and the three of them live in a house with a mouse and a water-fetching bug in its ear. The mouse and the bug were supposed to work together, but they ended up getting tangled up in a web of evil, and Snow White ended up having to leave the house and go back to the mouse's house. We learn that a witch lives in the woods behind the mountains and tried to kill Snow White's stepdaughter, but the girl escaped. The woods are not scary at all, says Snow White, and she's afraid of a dark shadow that's recently been lurking around the woods. She asks Snow White if he can help her find the castle of the Castle of Thorns, and he tells her that he'll take her there if she wants to.
