This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the previous chapter, in which a young man named yue is discovered in the middle of the marshes. The young man asks yue why the marshes have come to destroy the panling array, and yue tells him that he brought the young man there because the marshes want to destroy it. yue says that he is still alive, and that he has no other choice but to kill his own spirit pet if he thinks a heavenly rank talisman can save his life. He says that if the white marshes think that a heavenly ranking talisman will save their lives, then they are wrong. He is unable to use the heavenly ranking defense talisman because he is not strong enough in the array to use it. He wonders why they sent him to the marshes, but yue knows that they have already rumbled a body of calamity. He decides that he will kill himself first, and then he will smite the kid. He tells yue that he does not want to die in this place, but that he must open up his consciousness and let yue use his body.
