He plans to take back the Xuanshui Gate one day. He asks the monk if this is an earth-rank magic weapon, and the monk says that if he throws it in, he won't get it back. If the monk is assigned to another spirit spring pit tomorrow, he should follow the monk's example and throw the earth-ranking magic weapon in. Otherwise, the monk will be thrown into the other pit.
