In this chapter, we learn that the "gods" of the universe have been humiliated by the actions of the "changliu-mountain" gods. The "god" of heaven, the god of the gods, is humiliated because he has been unable to break the curse that binds the universe to its present state. The god of heaven tells us that the only thing that can break this curse is by fighting against it head on. He says that he gave each of the plants a unique name so that no one else would be able to take it from them. He also says that each plant will no longer have to contribute its buds and fruits in order to survive. He adds that from now on, each of them will have their own unique name, and they will fight against the "fate set" by the "we'll fight against it to the end" .
