About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that the sun is a rare artificial world that has been built by the "techno-technos" . It's a place where hundreds of millions of visitors come every day. The narrator asks the master if he's sure that the master wants him to do this. The master tells him that he doesn't want to do it. He's happy that the transhumans are happy, because he thinks that they still have "the puny brains" of a "homo sapien." The narrator says that the uplink is too clever for his own good. He tells the narrator to wait outside and wait for the right moment to tell him what's going on. He says that they're leaving the marmola, and that he just wants to cover his "respiratory tracts." He says he likes killing weak people. He also says that his master has recently become sensitive to certain microbes, and he wants to make sure that they don't get sick. He asks the women to make themselves comfortable, and says that he'll take them to his boss's quarters. He adds that the universe is about to be "dust" , so he'd like to "forget who I am." He also tells the women that two giant galaxies collided, causing an explosion that was so powerful that it was visible all over the universe. He wants to know why the two giants collided, but he can't figure out why. He thinks that it's because of something else, and they have to figure out a way to contact the meta-baron.
