In this chapter, we learn that the battle scroll has been stolen from Tenzen, and that he is the only one alive who was killed in the battle. He tells us that the mission of the hattori has been ended, and he asks who the chink is. The chink tells him that it is one of Tenzen's clan. He says that if he can bring back the head of the man who killed him, he can save some face. He then reveals that he killed the man because he would have confessed to him if he had asked him. He adds that the man probably wanted to know what happened to Tenzen. He also tells them that the girl who was chained to the salt shed has been stripped of her identity and sent to her grave. They decide to go to the palace of ogen and find out what is going on.
