In this chapter, norachiyo tells us that he's not buying the story of the little kitten, who was supposed to be executed but is still alive. Norachiyo wants to learn how to use a sword, so he asks the cat to teach him the art of feline sword-fighting. The cat says he doesn't have one right now, but he'll use it in the future. He's also surprised that no one recognizes him, since he looks so much older than he did when he was a little kitten. He thinks that the cat turned him into a "nuisance junkie" , and that's why he tried to kill him. He wonders who the cat's new owner is, and he wonders if it's just one more "ghost from the pound" .
