In this chapter, we learn that Henry has accepted a position at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and that he will begin his studies in the fall of this year. The president of Berklee announces that the school will challenge students to study abroad for a number of years, and Henry will be one of them. He tells Henry that he is a candidate that "full of manity" and that his experience at Berklee will be "rich and filled with possibilities." Henry tells him that he has told his mother that he plans to take charge of her education and life when they are in England, and he asks her not to interfere in his education.
