In the middle of the night, a military dog named "old fart" wakes up all the other dogs in the barracks. He's worried about his wife, who is away at war, and about how he's going to miss her. He wants to go home, but he can't sleep at night because he hears noises coming from the barracks at night. He thinks it's time for him to get a lesson in how to be a good soldier, and he decides to go to his instructor's house and tell him what's happened. He tells his instructor that the enemy is trying to get into the southern part of the camp, and that he needs to report this to the military instructor. The instructor is supposed to know that he went out, and the enemy isn't wearing a military uniform. The garrison training was supposed to be based on military pressure, but the enemy has come out at night, and they're trying to invade the southern region. He has to report it to the instructor, who should know about it. The enemy is wearing a different military uniform than the one he was wearing when he left. He doesn't know why they've come to find him, but it must have something to do with the failed border agreement between the two countries. He knows that the other side will retreat if they use military force, so he thought they'd retreat if the military pressure was applied. He also knows that he'll have to report the situation to the army instructor, since the enemy's trying to sneak into the camp.
