In this chapter, the doctor explains how to raise a "Voodoo Bug," or insect voodoo bug, in order to cure the patient. He uses a combination of the following ingredients to create the bug: "snakes scorpions centipedes spiders toads silkworms lizards" . He then feeds the insects with a five-flavor "digestive powder" to stimulate the bug's "effect." The remaining insects in the "voodoo basin" will act as a "vanquishing bug" , depending on the insects' characteristics.
