About This Chapter
The sun is hiding behind the mountains, and the director decides to shoot a scene in which hakuraku gets into a fight with the others. The director protests, saying that he doesn't want the other actors to get into the fight. He wants them to have fun and enjoy the moment. The other actors, he says, are "pop stars with experience" . He also says that Ren is "stiff" because he's stubborn. He tells the director to act "cheery and carefree" even as he keeps his guard up. Ren says that he wants to act out his interpretation of "arata" , which is the meaning of the word "man" in Japanese. He says that in order to do so, he needs to use all of his time to make sure that his desires are "brought to life." The director says that if Ren is stubborn, he should make him go home and think about what he is doing instead of fighting with a shadow. If Ren is going to act the way he wants, then he should think about someone else who is not even in the room. He suggests that Ren wander three steps away from the window and talk to someone in his own head. The sound of his voice makes the director uncomfortable, and he tells Ren to leave Ren alone.
