The chapter opens with a flashback to the police station, where the young man was once a police officer. The young man is now a member of a guild, and the police officer reminisces about the days when he would go to the girl's house to patch up his wounds instead of going to a hospital. The police officer tells the girl that the boy's body is "pretty messed up" , and that he thinks the boy is mentally unstable. He says that he doesn't know how to help the boy, since he's not trained to deal with trauma, but he does know that he can draw blood to see if the boy has a mental disorder.
