The girls discuss the upcoming play, which they're going to perform in front of the entire class. One of the girls, Penny, tells the other girls that she's going to play the lead in the play, but that she doesn't want to tell her mom about it because she thinks it's a bad idea. The other girls, however, want to know what's up with this, and they ask the girl to tell them. The girl tells them that the play is going to be about "pride and prejudice" and that the lead will be a "criminal" . The girls are shocked, and the teacher tells them not to worry, because he'll figure out a way to get the lead back. He also tells the girls that he's learned a lot about geology in the last two months, and that he wants to use it to help the students. He tells them to dig up some dirt and plant some trees in the spring, and then he tells them about the lessons they've been memorizing. He's excited about the whole thing.
