The next morning, the Governess is surprised to find that the Doctor has come to see her. The Governess tells him that she has not yet agreed to break off her relationship with the Doctor, and that she will not allow anyone to hurt his feelings for her daughter. She promises that after the wedding, she will make sure that her daughter is happy with him. She also promises that she and her brother will care for their sister and brother-in-law together.
