This is a locked chapterVol.3 Chapter 5: The Sinful Vanities
About This Chapter
Back at school, Lockwood asks Dinah how her day went. She tells him that she was given a tutor so she could catch up on her homework. Lockwood thinks that they should take a shortcut through the tunnel, but Dinah reminds him that this is a weird place, and that they need to find someone to go through it with. She reminds Lockwood that they are friends with the mausoleum, so they can fix themselves up someone as beautiful as they should go about all "ragged at the edges" . Lockwood says that Dinah is the only one worth looking at, and he's going to find her. He tells Dinah to stay and look for her, and then he says that he'll go find Vincente. Dinah tells Lockwood to hold on to her, because Vincente ran away and left her all by himself. She says that her beauty will soon dazzle the world, and the boys will fall in love with her. She asks why they leave her beauty to "spoil and tarnish" while they do their work. She also says that Vincente always wanted to pull her away from Dinah, but he wouldn't let her go.
