After spending a month in the library, Lockwood is ready to return to school. He tells Nelly that he misses her so much that he wishes he could go back to his old school, but Nelly reminds him that he has to send her messages at weekends. Lockwood wonders if there are 2000 students at the school, and Nelly replies that there are, but that for her, the competition is fierce. She tells Lockwood that she is afraid that she will lose her place in the class with the other students because of the "one cheekier" student. Lockwood tells Nelly to wait for him after school so that he can help her find her class. He then tells her to go home with him because he will be with her to find her classroom first. He also tells her that he will deal with the bullies if they come to him. He says that he is not a child, and that she should not worry about him. She asks him if the boy in her class is handsome, and he says he is, but he is "naggier" than before. She then asks him what his personality is. He replies, "gentle and considerate", "unromantic", and "cunning" .
