In this short scene, we are introduced to a number of characters, each of whom is a member of the King's family. The first person we meet is Mariana, who is the daughter of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Mariana is a young girl who has just returned from a trip to the Galapagos Islands with her family. She is very excited to be back in the company of her family, especially her father, King Ferdinand. Mariana tells her father that she is going to go back to school in order to get a better education. She also tells him that she wants to become a doctor. Her father, Ferdinand, tells her that she will have to wait until she is older before she will be allowed to practice medicine.
