In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named Hatlantha. She is the daughter of King Lench, and she has come to the palace to find out what has happened to her father. Lench tells her that he has been unable to find a gene that is compatible with his own, and that he hopes to be able to match his own gene with that of his daughter. He is pleased that he is able to do so, and he is certain that his daughter's gene will also be compatible with Lench's. He also hopes that his gene will not cause any harm to his daughter, because she is so beautiful
