We are also introduced to his mother, his father-in-law, and his brother, who are also present. The scene opens with the headless marquis, kaile, begging the king to pardon him. The king refuses, saying that he has done nothing wrong. He says that the people of the kingdom are starving, but that there is still food in the kingdom's storehouses. He tells the marquis that he will change his punishment, along with his family, for the crime he has committed. The marquis's mother begs him to calm down, but the king says that he is "just ruthless" and that he would rather die than marry her son. The prince is overjoyed to see his mother and father, and he runs to join them.
