This chapter opens with a soldier named Meung Yao waking up. He is a member of the third division, and he is the one who saved his life in the previous chapter. The soldier tells his superior that he wants to thank him for saving his life. He tells the superior that it is their duty to serve their commander, and that their duty is to protect their homeland and family. He asks the superior to order him not to go back to the battlefield. He also asks that she not be allowed to kill the enemy. He says that the battlefield is dangerous, and the demons will not show mercy to the lower-ranking soldiers. He adds that he does not want to lose his wife again, and promises to return to his post.
