Back in the dream world, Cai Ling is still in the middle of fishing in the river when he runs into his old friend, who is now back in the real world. Cai Ling tells him that everything is normal in his dreamworld, and that he has resolved the problem of the demon king. He tells Cai Ling that even if Cai Ling were to be chosen as the new king, he would still have to sacrifice some things in order to be able to live in the new heaven. He says that Cai Ling's past has no bearing on his feelings for Cai Ling.
