About This Chapter
In the aftermath of the murder, Klara laments the fact that Milady has been forced to leave the town she has loved for thirty years. She asks why Milady didn't kill the man on the train that arrived in Toska. Milady replies that the man was dressed in a new railway coat, which Milady found hiding in the garage of Oleg, Milady's new boss. Klara says that she has spent the last thirty years keeping the town safe from the future, and that she used the power she has to keep the people of Toska away from eating and taking that they decide they are. She feels that it is time for her to leave, and asks Milady if she has been inside the tree all along. She replies that she was right about ten percent of the time, but that she wants to be there, and feels sorry for Milady for having to leave
