About This Chapter
The narrator asks the young man where he has been. He wants to know how he spends his days. The young man says that he went out with the hermit chenglei and that he woke up with zhen in a bed. He tells the narrator that in a village in the province of pigshit, people still try to cure homosexual men by forcing them to marry their relatives. He says that his head is full of chemicals that tell him he is in love. The narrator says that at one point he thought that his spine was about to break, but now people know that he is a confused young man from the rural. He asks the man if there are political parties in Italy and in Greece. The man replies that there are only thirty parties in Greece and that the place is going to the left before it even got started. He goes on to say that he wants to get a beer with the man, but that the man wants to tell him that he loves him now that he's in love with him. This is not what he wanted to say, the narrator says, and he doesn't understand what the man is trying to say. He wonders what it is about.
