In this chapter, we learn that the last khatzi, thorne, is now in control of the land. He is stronger than ever before, and he has the power to destroy drucilla. He tells his mother, artus, that he will make her pay for what she has done to him. He says he will not sacrifice thorne in order to save her daughter. He reminds his mother that she promised him that she would protect her daughter, but she refused to do so. He urges his mother to stop running away like that, and to remember the mirror in her heart, where her power lies.
