In the forest, guarax and the rest of the queen's retinue look for a way to help the queen, but they're running out of food and men. They need to find a way back to the millhaven, where they'll be safe. Unsure of what to do, the queen sends out her scouts to find out what's going on in the forest. She's pleased to see that they've found the girl who's the "source of the magic" . Confused, she asks the girl if she's done anything new with her new witchery. The girl replies that she hasn't, and that she'll always be loyal to the queen. She tells the queen that she doesn't think the queen needs her alive, but that if she did, she'd be glad to tell her. The queen is pleased to hear that the girl is loyal to her, and says that she won't disappoint her. Worried that the queen will find out about her treachery, the girl tells her guardian to go and tell her to get ready for the battle. She says that the army of drucilla is going to kill them tomorrow, and she wants them to get out of the forest as soon as possible. She also says that her guardian is still alive, and he'll come back to help them out. They'll meet again at dawn.
