In this first scene, the swordsman, Orgon, thanks the men who hired him for his services. He tells Orgon that he is the law of castlebay and that he will chop off Orgon's head if Orgon does not comply with his orders. The swordsman says that he would like to be his apprentice, but Orgon tells him that it is just the way he is. He says that when he grows up, he will grow into a giant beard and braid yellow flowers around his head like Orgon.
