The second part of the comic opens with a description of the woods where the witches live. They eat from traps and from swamp rats, and they have nothing to offer the men of the court. When they are hungry, they will eat the head of the lopper. The lopper tries to kill him, but the gnarled beast bites him off the head. The witch tells him that she wants him to eat her, but he refuses. She says that even if he killed 40 men, he would not be able to kill her because she is so powerful that she could kill him with her magic. She tells him to share his meat with her, and he agrees.
