About This Chapter
In this brief scene, we learn that the knights of the kingdom have lost their battle with the goblins, and that the king has been forced to flee to the city of Verona. The knights, however, are not deterred by the loss of the battle, and they continue to plan their way into the city. As they prepare to leave, they are interrupted by the appearance of a talking basket, which contains the three swords of the knights. The first two are directed at the king, the third at the witches, and the fourth at the healers. The third is directed toward the head of a lopper, who they believe to be a "magician." The knights are worried that the lopper will announce his imminent arrival in the city, but they are confident that the head is indeed a witch's head.
