About This Chapter
Lihao, the imperial censor, and Luyi, the county governor, are in charge of Luoyang, and they decide to bury their dead with the old dynasties. Lihao tells them that those who oppose him will perish, but those who submit will prosper. He tells the county governors that they should bow down and express their loyalty to him, as long as they do so like the other counties' governors. He says that his cousin and nephew have died without proper burial places, and he will be able to save their lives if they bow down to him like other county governors. The six survivors of the changshan massacre are also present. They tell Lihao that they helped open the tumen pass, and that they will follow him. They also tell him that he has done more than that, by helping the enemy. They say that he was the one who opened the tuman pass, not them. They show him the sword that the young master forged, but he says that he will not return to the city. He wants to join the other county governor and the six changshan survivors. He decides to follow them on this journey, as survival is not guaranteed.
