The flashback reveals that Irwin treated the ferret like a "slave" and that the fight was a punishment for everyone who had treated him poorly. Irwin tells the reader that if the ferret bites him, they're going to take it back and that Irwin won't be able to get it back if the product isn't sold out. Irwin says that the ferret is a living thing, and that it's probably already imprinted on the family. Irwin suggests that Irwin teach the ferret that biting 15 is a bad habit and that he might try biting with all the ferrets.
