In this chapter, the leader of the city's wildcats tells the gang that they've done a good thing by rescuing the witches. He's not worried about the patrolman, though, because he's already let the witches go. He tells them that it's their job to keep the city safe, and that they shouldn't be afraid of him. The gang is shocked, and the leader tells them to chill out. They're the ones who abandoned the witches, he tells them.
