About This Chapter
In this short scene, we learn that Leonard has undergone a transformation. He has lost his body, his appetite, and his ability to eat. He was once considered the "messiah" of the medical community, but now he is "weak and fell sick" at the end of his life. At the door of death, Leonard sees a disembodied figure who offers him a choice: he can join the gods, or he can destroy them. Leonard accepts the choice, and he becomes a goddess. He tells us that a god has come to him and asked if he would like to have a second chance at life for his child. At first, he did not understand the question, but his disease made his womb stop working, so the child survived. He agrees to the contract and becomes a "god" in exchange for losing his identity and his memories as a human.
