The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which we learn that Fushimi is in love with Atsumori, but he is unable to find a suitable wife for him. The flashback shows that the young couple has been in love for a long time, and that they have been married for many years. The young couple's mother and father are in the audience, but they are not present to witness the wedding. They are Hiroyukishika and Atsushimi's younger brother . Hiroyuki tells us that he has come to see his brother because he loves him, and he is sorry that his mother has not yet spoken to him about his feelings for her son. He tells Hiroyuki that he came to see what his brother was up to, and Hiroyuki says that it is hard for him to believe that Hiroyuki has treated his brother so cruelly. He also says that he wishes he had acted more like a bride, so that the family would not have to look for a wife for Hiroyuki. He says that since he first came to love his brother, he has wanted to change himself, and to reach his goal, he even left his home town. He is jealous of his brother and wishes that he could be his friend.
