About This Chapter
Now that we know what the bounty killer is up to, we learn that he's planning to rob a cave full of dragol people. We learn that the cave was once the home of the mightiest dragol tribe, but that their numbers dwindled as the thief took a bride and settled in the cave. The thief doesn't have any memory of the incident, so the dragols don't care about it. The narrator tells us that the story of the valley began with "sins past" and "hearts broken" . Now that he knows what the thief is planning to do, the narrator reminds him of his sister and reminds him why he isn't showing her the valley first. He tells the narrator that he needs help with one last job. He reminds him that he has a wife and child on his way. He asks the narrator if he has enough money to help him on this last job , and the narrator says that he does. He also reminds the narrator of the fact that the war battery will fade if the war thief is caught. He says that if he is caught, he will take back the money that the thief stole from him the last time.
