The narrator is exhausted by the death of his beloved isaac. He does not know what to do now that he has lost his beloved. He tells his father that he wants to return to his old love, iris, but he knows that it is too late to do so. He feels that he must find a way to express his feelings to her. He realizes that she is a brilliant person, but that he is so ashamed of his pathetic self that he ignores her.
