In this short scene, Percival tells Nelly that he and Nelly were destined to meet. He tells her that he has left most of the food that Nelly has given him, and that he is going to take a walk near the monastery. Nelly is horrified by the news that a child has been crushed under a carriage, and she curses Percepival for his part in the accident. She tells him that since he was born, the family's fortunes have gotten worse, and they have been thrown out of their land. She also curses Nelly for destroying her brother, who is a devout Christian. She urges Nelly to let the smiths rest in peace, and to be ladylike when she is at the monastery
